Police Reports

An application for VOCP assistance cannot be approved unless a police report was filed with the police or other law enforcement authority within 5 days of the crime.

An official police report, from the law enforcement agency the crime was reported to, should be submitted with the application whenever possible. This will speed up approval of the application, where the applicant is qualified for assistance.

If the applicant is unable to obtain a copy of the official police report, they may still submit the VOCP application. The VOCP will request a police report from the agency the crime was reported to. The VOCP will consider the application for approval after the police report is received.

When a police report cannot be released by law enforcement because of an ongoing investigation, or other valid reason, a copy of the police report can be substituted with a Police Report Verification Form completed by the law enforcement agency. This form is available to law enforcement agencies here.  For DUI's click here.
